My 7 Course Dining Experience At Hotel Ranga

FINE DINING AT HOTEL RANGA..

When i arrived at Hotel Ranga and booked in for dinner i was not expecting 7 courses! I have to let you know that they were all smaller size meals but after 7 courses i was full. I really didn’t mind tasting all of what Iceland has to offer!

Head Chef Karl Jóhann Unnarssonat at Hotel Ranga is brilliant.

His flavour combinations are mind blowing. I can be a fussy eater so i was a bit worried about what i was going to be dished up.

Didn’t i get a surprise when Chef Karl dished up Puffin and i was more surprised that i actually liked it. In fact i loved every meal that i was served. The Mushroom Soup is one of the best things i’ve ever tasted in my life!!

Wild mushroom soup with assorted mushrooms and pickled local mushrooms

The Mushroom soup is the most intense tasting mushroom dish i’ve ever eaten. After one spoonful i was grinning from ear to ear.

Salmon “sous vide“ with celery purée, watercress vinaigrette, herb mayonnaise and kale

Normally i wouldn’t have ordered this dish and i admit i was afraid to take my first bite but it was delicious and fresh.

Slow cooked and roasted cauliflower with celeriac purée, pickled red onion and buttermilk dill sauce

The Cauliflower felt like comfort food but just taken to the next level! Just devine.

Smoked puffin with spiced cream cheese, beetroot gel and apples

The flavours of the Puffin dish were inspiring, i wouldn’t have even considered this meal normally. I was shocked at how delicious and tender the Puffin tasted.

Lightly salted and pan-fried cod fillet with olives, sundried tomatoes and white wine sauce with dill oil

I love fish so the Cod was always going to be a favourite. Very hearty and flavoursome.

Stuffed and oven baked zucchini with lentils, pickled onion and herbs

Definitely healthy comfort food but packed full of flavour.

Carrot mousse with carrot cake, chocolate crumble and carrot sorbet

I never imagined carrot could taste so good as a dessert. The textures and freshness all came together to build a fulfilling dessert.

SPOIL YOURSELF WITH HOTEL RANGA..

My 7 Course Dining Experience At Hotel Ranga

Hotel Ranga isn’t just a Hotel, it’s an experience. One that you won’t forget in a hurry. From the moment you arrive you feel like you’re a part of Iceland. Well i did anyway!

This incredibly delicious dinner was gifted to me as part of my wonderful stay at Hotel Ranga and i wasn’t expecting to be so spoilt. I’m forever grateful to Chef Karl for taking control and helping me push past the fussy eater i normally am. If i had ordered my own dinner im sure i would’ve eaten the same old dishes i would normally order.

My trip to Iceland opened up so many doors and some slightly uncomfortable doors i might add! I like to stay in routine and i’m often scared to try new things but once you visit Iceland you’ll understand what i mean. Everything is different especially to Australia. The weather, the driving, the food, the scenery and i found myself pushing through every boundary i had. Iceland made me grow as a person and i will always be grateful for my time there. If you have a bucket list i suggest you add this too it!
